Terms & Conditions

The rules of the game, so to speak. Short, honest, and written to be understood — not to confuse.

The short version

CricketCals is a free website with cricket calculators. Use it however you want. We don't guarantee the results are perfect (especially the DLS tool). We're not responsible if something goes wrong because you relied on our numbers. Don't copy our site. That's basically it.

Acceptance of Terms

By using CricketCals, you agree to these terms and conditions. You don't have to sign anything, create an account, or click an "I agree" button. Simply opening the website and using the tools means you accept what's written here.

If you don't agree with any part of these terms, the simple solution is to close the tab. There's no cost, no subscription to cancel, and no data we need to delete — because we never collected any in the first place.

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the website after any changes means you accept the updated version. We'll always update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when we make changes.

What CricketCals Is

CricketCals is a free, static website that provides online cricket calculation tools. That's it. Here's what that means in plain language:

  • Free — there's no charge, no premium version, no "free trial" that turns into a paid thing.
  • Static — the website is just HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files. There's no server processing your inputs, no database, no backend.
  • No account needed — no sign-up, no login, no password, no profile. You open the page, you use the tool.
  • Works in your browser — all calculations happen on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.

CricketCals is not a cricket scoring app, not a live match platform, not a fantasy cricket tool, and not affiliated with any cricket board, league, or the ICC.

The Six Calculators

CricketCals currently provides six tools. Each one does a specific calculation based on the numbers you enter:

Calculator What It Does Accuracy
Batting Strike Rate Calculates runs per 100 balls faced Exact
Bowler Economy Calculates runs conceded per over Exact
Run Rate Calculates team runs per over Exact
Partnership Adds two batters' runs plus extras Exact
DLS Target Estimates revised target for rain-affected matches Approximate
Overs to Balls Converts overs notation to total balls Exact

Five of these tools use standard, universally accepted cricket formulas and will give you mathematically correct results as long as you enter correct numbers. One of them — the DLS Target calculator — is different, and that deserves its own section.

Accuracy & Disclaimers

We've done our best to make the calculators accurate, but there are limits to what we can guarantee:

The DLS Target Calculator is approximate

The official Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method uses proprietary resource tables owned by the ICC. Our tool uses a simplified, publicly available Standard Edition table with linear interpolation. It will get you close — usually within a run or two — but it is not the same as the official ICC DLS calculation.

Do not use our DLS tool to decide match results in any official, competitive, league, or tournament setting. Use the ICC's licensed DLS software for that.

For the other five calculators, the math is straightforward and the results are exactly what you'd get doing the calculation by hand or on a scientific calculator. But we still need to say this:

  • Garbage in, garbage out. If you enter the wrong numbers, you'll get the wrong answer. We can't check whether you typed "87" instead of "78".
  • Overs format matters. The economy and run rate calculators expect cricket notation (like 8.3 for 8 overs and 3 balls). Entering "8.5" thinking it means 8 overs 5 balls will give you a wrong result — because 8.5 already means 8 overs 3 balls in decimal.
  • Ratings are subjective. When we say a strike rate of 150 is "Explosive" or an economy of 4.0 is "Excellent", those are our opinions about what counts as good. Reasonable people can disagree on where the thresholds should be.

Not Professional Advice

Nothing on CricketCals constitutes professional advice of any kind. Specifically:

  • It's not coaching advice — we won't tell you whether your strike rate is good enough for your level of cricket.
  • It's not umpiring advice — especially for DLS. Use official tools for match decisions.
  • It's not scoring advice — we're not a replacement for proper scoring software like CricHeroes, Play-Cricket, or similar platforms.
  • It's not legal or financial advice — obviously, but we're saying it anyway because lawyers like that sort of thing.

If you need authoritative numbers for anything that matters — match results, selection decisions, statistics for publication — verify them with an official source or do the maths yourself.

Intellectual Property

The CricketCals website — including its design, code, text content, logo, and the specific way the calculators work — is our intellectual property. This doesn't mean we own the cricket formulas (those belong to everyone), but it does mean:

  • Don't copy our website. You can't take our code, design, or content and put it up on another domain as your own.
  • Don't use our logo. The CricketCals name and logo aren't yours to use on your site, social media, or merchandise.
  • Don't frame or embed our pages. You can link to us (and we appreciate that), but don't load our pages inside an iframe on your site to make it look like your content.

What you absolutely can do: Write your own cricket calculator using the same standard formulas we use. The math behind strike rate, economy, and run rate is public knowledge. You just can't copy how we've built the website around it.

What You Can and Can't Do

Use CricketCals for whatever cricket-related calculation you need. Some examples of perfectly fine use:

  • Checking your own stats after a match
  • Quickly calculating run rate while watching a match on TV
  • Using it as a teaching tool to explain cricket maths to someone
  • Getting a rough DLS estimate during a rain break at a casual match
  • Sharing a link to a specific calculator with your teammates

What you can't do:

  • Use automated scripts to hammer the site. If you're hitting our calculators thousands of times per second with a bot, that's an abuse of the service.
  • Try to break or hack the site. There's nothing to gain — there's no database, no user data, no payment system. But don't do it anyway.
  • Use the site for anything illegal. This should go without saying, but we're saying it.

Third-Party Services

The website loads a few things from third-party CDNs to work properly:

  • Tailwind CSS — for styling
  • Google Fonts — for the Outfit and DM Sans typefaces
  • Font Awesome — for the icons you see on the page

These are all well-known, reputable services. If any of them go down, parts of the site might look different or not work properly, but that's outside our control. We don't use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Limitation of Liability

This is the legal bit where we have to tell you that we're not on the hook for everything. Here it is in plain English:

CricketCals is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't make any warranties — express or implied — about the website's accuracy, reliability, or availability. Using plain terms:

  • If the site goes down while you're trying to calculate something, we're not liable for the inconvenience.
  • If you make a match decision based on our DLS calculator and it turns out to be wrong, we're not liable for the consequences. (We've warned you repeatedly that it's approximate.)
  • If you enter wrong numbers and get a wrong answer, that's on you, not us.
  • We're not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for anything related to CricketCals is zero. Because the site is free, you didn't pay us anything, and we don't collect any data from you, there's no financial basis for liability.

Availability of the Website

We'll try to keep CricketCals available 24/7, but we can't guarantee it. The site might be temporarily unavailable because of:

  • Server maintenance or hosting issues
  • Updates or bug fixes being deployed
  • Internet outages or CDN problems beyond our control

We don't have a scheduled maintenance window because there's no database to take offline. When we do update the site, it's usually just swapping files, which takes seconds. But if the site is down, we'll get it back up as soon as we can. We won't owe you anything for the downtime.

Changes to These Terms

We might update these terms occasionally. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. That's the only notice you'll get — we won't email you (because we don't have your email), we won't show a pop-up (because we don't use pop-ups), and we won't send you a letter (because that would be absurd).

The main situations where we'd update these terms:

  • We add a new calculator that needs specific disclaimers
  • We change how an existing calculator works in a way that affects results
  • There's a change in law that requires us to update our terms

Honestly, for a free calculator website with no data collection, major term changes are unlikely. But we'll keep this page current just in case.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

If there's ever a dispute arising from your use of CricketCals (which would be remarkable for a free calculator site, but here we are), you agree that any legal proceedings will be handled in the courts of India.

That said, we'd much rather you just send us a message if something's bothering you. Most issues can be sorted out with a normal conversation, and we're reasonable people who built a website about cricket maths — not a multinational corporation trying to dodge responsibility.

Contact Us

If you have any questions about these terms — or if you think we've missed something, or if you just want to talk about cricket — you can reach us here:

You'll be talking to a real person who built this site, not a customer service bot that tells you to "try turning it off and on again".

Fair terms for a free tool.

No hidden clauses. No dark patterns. No "by using this site you agree to sell us your firstborn." Just a straightforward set of ground rules for a straightforward website.
