Using these terms

These terms cover your use of cricketcals.com, including its calculators and written guides. “CricketCals”, “we” and “us” refer to this website's operator. Read the terms before using a result in a scorecard, report or match discussion. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the service.

No registration or payment is required to use the current ten calculators. These terms do not provide consent for advertising cookies or replace the choices described in our Privacy Policy.

What the website provides

CricketCals helps players, scorers, coaches and followers work through common cricket calculations. Each tool calculates from the figures you enter; it does not retrieve a live score or verify those figures against a scorebook. The guides explain formulas, examples and scoring assumptions.

The calculator arithmetic runs in your browser. This does not mean the whole website operates without external requests: pages load advertising and other resources, and the contact form sends messages through an external service. See section 8 for those distinctions.

CricketCals is independent of the ICC, MCC, cricket boards and leagues. A reference link to an official rule or document does not imply endorsement or certification.

The six tools and their limits

Check the instructions on the relevant tool page before entering a score. The following limits matter when comparing a result with a published statistic.

What each calculator can tell you
Tool	Scope and assumptions
Batting strike rate	Runs divided by balls faced, multiplied by 100. Use the batter's recorded balls faced, which can differ from the legal-ball count for an over.
Bowling economy	Runs charged to the bowler per six-ball over. Use bowling figures; team extras such as byes and leg-byes are not normally charged to the bowler.
Run rate	Team runs per six-ball over completed. The guide explains required-rate arithmetic, but the form itself calculates current run rate. This is not a tournament net run rate calculator.
Partnership	Adds the two batters' runs and extras during the same stand. Whole-innings batting totals can include runs made in earlier partnerships.
DLS target estimate	An educational rain-target estimate using a historical Standard Edition resource table and interpolation. It is not current official DLS software; see section 4.
Overs to balls	Converts six-ball overs notation to counted balls and shows decimal overs. The guide explains the reverse calculation. The form does not count every physical delivery, such as extra wide or no-ball deliveries.
Batting average	Total runs divided by dismissals (innings minus not-outs). A batter who has never been dismissed has no average. Combine seasons by adding runs and dismissals first.
Bowling average and strike rate	Average is runs per wicket, strike rate is balls per wicket and economy is runs per six-ball over, using runs charged to the bowler and wickets credited to the bowler.
Required run rate	Runs still needed multiplied by six and divided by legal balls remaining. The target is the number of runs that wins, and wickets are not part of the formula.
Net run rate	Aggregate scoring rate minus aggregate conceding rate, with an all-out innings counted as the full overs quota. Rain adjustments and competition-specific rules are not applied.

Checking accuracy and understanding DLS

Results depend on the inputs, the scoring convention and any rounding shown on the page. A familiar formula is not a guarantee that every displayed result is free from errors. For example, 8.5 in cricket notation means eight overs and five balls: 53 balls. It is about 8.8333 decimal overs, not eight and a half overs. Use the input format stated beside the field.

Combine runs and balls before calculating an aggregate rate. Averaging two displayed rates, or reusing a rounded decimal-overs figure, can produce a different answer. Labels such as “Excellent” are broad descriptions, not an official assessment of a player's ability or match performance.

Rain targets need particular care

The DLS estimator assumes Team 1 had its full scheduled resources and models a single reduction in Team 2's allocation. Its form cannot represent all earlier interruptions, resource changes or competition-specific playing conditions. The historical table can differ from current official DLS calculations. There is no one- or two-run accuracy guarantee.

Use the target issued by the match officials for actual play. The estimate is not a final-stoppage par-score service and must not be presented as an official result. The ICC's DLS information provides background on the method.

How to use a result responsibly

You may use the tools to check arithmetic, teach a formula or discuss a match. Before publishing figures or relying on them for a competition decision, compare the inputs with the scorebook and apply the competition's rules. Keep the relevant runs, balls and assumptions with a copied result so another reader can check it.

A calculator output does not validate a scorecard, settle an umpiring dispute, predict a match outcome or establish a league position. Coaching and selection decisions need context beyond a single rate or partnership total.

Sharing results and respecting content

You may copy your calculated results into match notes, reports or messages and share links to our pages. A link back is helpful when readers need the method or assumptions. Do not describe an estimated target as an official CricketCals-certified score.

Original CricketCals text, design, branding and code are protected to the extent applicable intellectual property law provides. Third-party fonts, icons, images, software and reference material remain subject to their owners' rights and licences. Standard cricket formulas and independently calculated match facts are not claimed as exclusive CricketCals property.

Do not republish the site, reuse its branding to imply an association, or frame its pages as your own service without permission. These terms do not restrict uses permitted by law or rights granted under a relevant third-party licence. For other reuse, contact us with the material and proposed use.

Acceptable use

Use the website lawfully and in a way that allows others to use it. Do not attempt unauthorized access, distribute malicious code, overwhelm the site with automated requests or abuse the contact form with spam, threats or impersonation.

When reporting an error, provide only the information needed to reproduce it. Do not send another person's private details without a proper reason and permission where required. Access may be restricted where necessary to address misuse or protect the service.

Advertising, external services and privacy

The site includes Google AdSense code and uses external resources for styling, fonts, icons and some images. The contact form uses EmailJS to send the details you submit. These services can process technical visit information or message contents as described in the Privacy Policy.

An advertisement or external link does not mean CricketCals endorses the destination, its claims or its products. Any dealings with an advertiser or another website are subject to that provider's terms and privacy practices. You do not need to click an advertisement to use a calculator.

Changes or outages at an external provider can affect page appearance, advertising or message delivery. Read the privacy policy for cookie choices and requests concerning correspondence sent to us.

Service limitations and your legal rights

The website is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the extent the law permits, we do not warrant uninterrupted availability, error-free calculations or suitability for a particular match, competition or other purpose.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, CricketCals excludes liability for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, or removes rights and remedies that applicable law gives you. The fact that the tools are free does not, by itself, remove those rights.

Availability and changes to tools

Tools and guides may be corrected, updated or withdrawn. Hosting problems, maintenance, browser settings or third-party outages can interrupt access. There is no guaranteed uptime or support response time.

The site does not provide an account-based archive of your calculations. If you need a record, save the result and its inputs yourself. After a tool is updated, rerun a calculation if its previous output is important to your work.

Updates to these terms

We may revise these terms when the tools, site features or applicable requirements change. The date at the top identifies the latest revision. Updated terms will be published here, and additional notice will be provided where required by law. Changes do not remove rights that have already arisen under applicable law.

Governing law and resolving concerns

These terms are governed by the laws of India, subject to any mandatory protections that apply to you. Disputes may be brought before a court with competent jurisdiction in India, without limiting any right under applicable law to use another court or an available complaint process.

If something has gone wrong, you can email CricketCals with the page, issue and outcome you are seeking. Contacting us is an opportunity to resolve the concern; it does not prevent you from exercising your legal rights.

For a calculation report, include the tool's URL, exact inputs, displayed result and the result you expected. Add the applicable scoring rule or reference if you have one. This is more useful than a result alone, particularly when overs notation or a rain interruption is involved.
